Hailing from Dallas, TX, a big city not well known for breeding long lasting nationally successful rap artist, BBSR, short for Big Beam & Skinny Red, may be the exception to the rule. Arguably one of the most charismatic and lyrically talented rap groups, the duo is packed with potential to be the next stars seen on MTV, BET, and P Miller’s new urban TV network, BBTV. When asked what makes them different from the thousands of wanna be aspiring rappers in the market today, they suggest “the ability to have hot clean music that can bang out clubs and radio, content that is creative and edgy and can relate to the audience, and our professionalism when working with execs and industry people alike, sets us apart from the rest of the pack” says Skinny Red.
The journey began when the two met and became friends in Oklahoma City and started their first independent record deal that boosted the group into a local phenomenon. With an album single that climbed to #2 on the city’s top 40 radio station, cds moving from record store shelves, and a seemingly good buzz that began growing that would ensure success, the collapse of the label they were under and split up of their former 3 man group only meant the beginning of a journey to true stardom. Signed to a recording and publishing deal with Executive Music Group/Universal Music Group, the two have developed themselves, crafting their image, and welding a more professional sound sweet to the ears of the commercial mainstream rap and pop world. With the ups and downs and long awaited dreams of become stars, their patience and persistence may soon be paying off putting an end to skeptics and critics disbelieving the duo would ever release a project worthy of national success. Look for a strong 2009! |
